Brad is proud to be a North Carolina native. He grew up and graduated from high school in Eden, North Carolina, where his father worked in maintenance for Miller Brewing and his mother worked as a nurse for a local family practitioner. After high school, Brad attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was the first in his family to attend a four-year college.
After graduating from college, Brad participated in a work abroad program, which allowed him to live and work in Edinburg, Scotland. He will readily admit that he did not know what he wanted to do career-wise at this point in his life. After returning to North Carolina, he worked as a car salesman where he learned to appreciate the art of salesmanship, but most importantly, connected with his soon-to-be wife. After working for a couple of years, Brad aspired to attend law school.
Shortly after marrying, Brad and his new bride moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he attended the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and she worked as a school counselor at an inner-city school. While in law school, Brad served on the editorial board of The University of Memphis Law Review and published two articles. After three years in Memphis, Brad not only earned his Juris Doctor degree with honors, but he and his wife also became parents of two children.
With babies in tow, Brad and his wife returned to North Carolina, and he began practicing law as a workers’ compensation defense attorney in Charlotte, where he became licensed to practice in both North and South Carolina. As a defense attorney, he represented employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation cases for almost eight years before deciding to switch sides and become a plaintiff’s attorney.
Brad joined Campbell & Associates in 2011, and he became the head of the firm’s workers’ compensation department while he and his wife welcomed their third child. After joining the firm, he successfully passed the North Carolina State Bar’s certification exam to become a specialist in workers’ compensation law. In 2024, Brad realized his career-long dream of owning his own law firm and founded The Law Offices of Bradley H. Smith.
Brad’s prior history of representing employers and carriers provides him with helpful insight and knowledge that he applies when representing injured workers. Brad prides himself on being incredibly approachable and on his ability to listen to his clients with empathy. He understands the importance of communicating the ins and outs of the workers’ compensation legal system in a straightforward way that clients can understand. He invites questions from all his clients to ensure that they make well-informed decisions about their case.
When not fighting for injured workers, Brad enjoys spending quality time with his family in Huntersville. He is the proud parent of a Tar Heel and a member of the Wolfpack. Much to his wife’s disappointment, he is an avid sports fan and loves watching and following the Carolina Panthers and Tar Heels. He also enjoys volunteering in his community and participates in programs such as Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest Food Bank, and serves as a sponsor for The Relatives.
Brooke has years of experience as a skilled workers’ compensation paralegal who handles cases in both North and South Carolina. She and Brad first crossed paths in 2015 when she interviewed for a paralegal position at their former law firm. Impressed by her extensive knowledge of the complex workers’ compensation laws, Brad quickly added Brooke to his team. It was only after starting her position there that they discovered a fascinating coincidence—she and Brad are from the same small town and had attended the same high school, but if you ask her, she’ll say they graduated light-years apart. This unexpected connection strengthened their professional relationship and added a unique small-town feel to their work environment.
After nearly a decade of working alongside Brad at their former law firm, Brooke continues her mission of helping injured workers by joining The Law Offices of Bradley H. Smith. Brooke manages your case from start to finish. From the first call you make to our office with questions about how workers’ compensation works, she is there to guide you step-by-step, until the end. Her hands-on approach provides you with consistent support and peace of mind throughout the entire journey.
Outside of work, Brooke is an animal lover and enjoys spending time with her two Dobermans, Mila and Dutch. In her downtime, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. Brooke’s wealth of knowledge in workers’ compensation law, her infectious humor, and her passion for helping clients makes her a treasured member of the firm.
